Abstract

One of the manifestations of Sishankamrata (people's defense and security system) in the society is the formation of the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) as a public component that collaborates with TNI and POLRI in realizing security and public order (Kamtibmas). As the capital of Central Java Province, Semarang City, of course, has to maintain environmental peace and security. Therefore, the participation Satlinmas is essential in maintaining security and public order in Semarang City. To realize the good performance of Satlinmas in carrying out their duties and functions, capacity building efforts are needed among its members. Therefore, the Semarang City Government, in this case, the Civil Service Police Unit of Semarang, needs to prepare an identification of the Regional Linmas Unit following the direction of city development. This research was a mixed type of study (qualitative and quantitative) that was conducted to identify the condition of the Regional Linmas Unit in Semarang City. The subjects of this study consisted of members of the Linmas Unit in Semarang City. Sources of data in this study consisted of primary and secondary data sources that were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using quantitative descriptive and interactive analysis methods. The results point out that the condition of Linmas of Semarang City still has many shortcomings in individual, institutional, and systemic aspects. The individual capacity of its members is not very good. This condition requires capacity building efforts that must be realized, especially at the individual level. This individual capacity development seeks to improve the quality of human resources through the development of personal skills, knowledge, and abilities needed in the organization. Besides, community participation is also very necessary to support Sishankamrata.

The findings revealed that since the inception of the sampled universities, males have dominated its leadership with 100%. This domination was due to no other reason but gender discrimination. Abstract

Ndhepo is a stone mining activity in illegal sites carried out by the people of Medono Village. This activity is one of the changes in environment utilization. This study proposes to determine the perception of the people of Medono Village with the existence of stone mining activities around their living environment, to find out the meaning of the Medono Village community regarding their living environment, and to obtain the reasons for the community to carry out stone mining activities. The research method of this study was qualitative. Data analysis used an ethnoecological perspective. The results indicate that the natural environment in Medono Village is a fertile area and saves other natural resources, namely natural mineral resources for excavation C in the form of andesite rocks. Before the ndhepo activity, the community used their land for agricultural purposes. However, after realizing that ndhepo could provide a higher income than cultivating agricultural land, some people then turned to mine workers. The Medono Village community interprets the environment as a place to meet the needs of life. However, there are other meanings by most people, especially those related to stone mining activities because they have an impact on the surrounding natural environment. Some citizens actually do not approve of the existence of those mining activities.

Abstract

In carrying out economic empowerment, the role of actors as other parties is needed to help the community develops their potential. The role of the actor in Pierre Bourdieu's perspective consists of shared capital with habitus. This study would like to find out the relation between the success role of actors and the provision of economic, social, and cultural capital along with changes in habitus. This research was conducted in Slumut, Kumpulrejo Village, Salatiga. This location has two main potentials, namely milk and cattle fodder/concentrate feeds processing. The actors involved in economic empowerment in Slumut, Kumpulrejo Village, were the Department of Agriculture and Livestock from the government sector and the NGO Idea from the non-government sector. The two of them assist the Farmers Group of Margoraharjo 4. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and document review. The results of this study indicate that although the actors have provided capital assistance, the community's habitus is difficult to change. Raising cattle is a hereditary job that forms habitus. They are content with what is now. People do not have enough effort to reach new markets and make variations in dairy products, which means they must have a new habitus. This makes it difficult for the government to support the development of milk and cattle fodder/concentrate feed processing businesses. The results of this study indicate that it is difficult for the community to change its habitus.

The data used impact data collected primarily using a questionnaire given to 400 respondents among household heads. The analysis used is descriptive. The results showed that there must be a development impact, with more than 64 percent agreeing on the existence of the impact and felt by them in various economic matters. More than 80 percent of the community noted increased living standards, employment opportunities, income, investment interest, business, and ancillary income. This increase also negatively impacted the increase in prices of goods, services, real estate, housing, and cost of living. Significant changes can sprout up with the ability to own luxury items such as computers, mobile phones, ovens, microwave ovens, washing machines, air conditioners, vacuums, and water filters compared to 2000. In conclusion, the development of tourist land use dominates Langkawi Island, particularly positively impacting the local economy. The implications of this study can show how specific development planning such as tourism can have a positive impact and needs to remain further enhanced with the presence of specialized agencies such as the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).
